Day 06 - A book that makes you sad
War Horse by Micheal Morphurgo

I think the saddest part about this book is the truth behind the story, while it’s incredibly inspirational, the story setting is WW1 and the role that horses played in it, which in itself is completely heartbreaking. Not only the horrible treatment of horses by men during the war, but after the war, where many horses were simply sold for meat in France because they couldn’t be afforded to be brought home.

As an owner of horses, this touched me personally and both the book and the amazing film adaptation had me absolutely sobbing. It is a reflection on humanity - both the wonderful side and the ugly side, and the ugly can not always be hated; people will do desperate things when they are met with desperate circumstances.
